Threatened Ecological Communities (TEC) have been endorsed by the minister as threatened while Priority Ecological Communities (PEC) are those which have not yet been endorsed. Threatened Ecological Communities are described as either: "Presumed Totally Destroyed", "Critically Endangered", "Endangered" and "Vulnerable" while Priority Ecological Communities are described as being "Priority 1-5". Other Ecological Communities can be described as being: "Lower Risk" or "Not evaluated". Communities are based on various life-forms including plants, invertebrates and micro-organisms.
